Elio Ramos Colón (Puerto Rico), known online as garabatospr, is a professor, computer scientist, and computational artist whose work explores the intersections of art, programming, mathematics, and data visualization. His practice centers on generative art, using code as an expressive medium to create visual systems shaped by pattern, motion, interaction, and chance.
Working with tools such as p5.js and GLSL, Ramos Colón investigates geometric abstraction, algorithmic processes, and the relationship between control and unpredictability. The Collection
Together, the works trace a gradual movement from structure to abundance. The sequence begins with grids, diagonals, and patterned systems, then moves through optical vibration, wandering traces, and unstable forms before arriving at a lush tropical field of color and organic proliferation. Across the series, code becomes a mechanism for generating visual ecologies: systems that begin with rules but unfold through chance, accumulation, and transformation.
