We built this because the math didn't work for artists
Generative art is one of the most interesting things happening in visual culture right now. Tyler Hobbs, Vera Molnár, hundreds of artists after them — all proving that code can make something worth hanging on a wall.
And yet the platforms that sell physical prints of this work pay the artist somewhere between 10% and embarrassing. The rest goes to the platform.
We thought that was wrong. So we built something different.
What is Generative Media Club?
GMC is a marketplace for physical products made from generative art — canvas prints, posters, tote bags, and objects made in small runs.
Every artist on this platform is a creative coder or generative artist. These aren't stock images or mass-generated content without an author. These are people who built a practice around making visual work — some of them for years.
We curate who's on the platform. Not everyone gets in.
How we pay artists
Here's how it works. When you buy something, the price covers production and shipping first. Whatever's left — the real margin — gets split between the artist and GMC.
Our Founding Artists (the first 20 on the platform) keep 80% of that margin. GMC keeps 20%.
Compare that to the alternatives:
|

GMC (Founding Artists) |
~80% of margin |
|
Redbubble |
10–20% royalty |
|
Society6 |
5–10% royalty |

Etsy + POD |
~25–35% after fees |
We only make money when artists make money. That alignment is intentional.
Made to order. No waste.
Nothing on this platform exists until you order it. Every canvas is stretched after your purchase. Every poster is printed on your order. Every tote is made for you.
This isn't just a supply chain decision. It means no overproduction, no unsold stock sitting in a warehouse, and no pressure to make art that sells fast instead of art that's good.
We think the best art takes time, and the business model should support that.
Who we are
GMC was founded inside a community of generative artists who had been making weekly work — and had no good way to sell it.
We're a small operation. Every design on this platform is reviewed and uploaded by us. We work closely with each artist. This will never be a platform where anyone can upload anything.
